In 2015, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta—a nationally ranked leader in pediatric care—engaged DaVinci Winstead*, a joint venture between DaVinci Development and The Winstead Group, to refine the Master Plan for its North Druid Hills Campus in Brookhaven, Georgia. Spanning 78 acres, this is one of the largest healthcare developments in the state’s history. The campus includes a state-of-the-art pediatric hospital, an attached clinic, a central utility plant, two parking decks, more than 20 acres of green space, and extensive walking trails for patients and families. DaVinci Winstead led a comprehensive review and refinement of the project scope to validate each major component, establish appropriate control budgets, and rigorously test key assumptions. Their work prioritized cost-efficiency and schedule control while minimizing disruption to Children’s ongoing operations. The joint venture successfully delivered the first two phases: the Center for Advanced Pediatrics and the Administrative Support Center. At the heart of the campus, the Arthur M. Blank Hospital will span 2 million square feet and feature two 19-story inpatient towers. The South Tower will house the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center, Transplant and Heart Center Clinics, Infusion Center, outpatient phlebotomy, and family education classrooms. The facility will provide 446 licensed beds—70% dedicated to critical care and specialty services—and accommodate 600 fellows and residents. With cutting-edge technology supporting both clinical care and medical education, the campus will also offer 20 acres of green space and trails for patients, families, and staff.
